Originally established to celebrate the lifting of The Siege of Gloucester in 1643, Gloucester Day has grown into a citywide celebration of civic pride, characterised by its 11am and 2pm parades through the city centre. In between parades, our reenactors will be hanging out a The Folk to enjoy food, drink, live music and historical exhibits, and you’re invited too!
Throughout the day:
Children’s craft activities with local artist Ally Goff
Live music from The Bristol Waites – medieval and Renaissance tunes played on replica historic instruments
Mr. Jacques Le Roux’s display of guns
Show and tell displays by the Marquis of Winchester’s Gloucester Garrison 1643
10.45am – Re-enactors leave The Folk to join the Mock Mayor of Barton Parade and ceremony, before returning to The Folk.
1.40pm – Another opportunity to see the re-enactors line up and leave to head up the 2pm Main Parade.
2.35pm – end of parade and the Colours Party march back to The Folk with drums.
3pm – Display of muskets firing in The Folk car park.
4-6pm: Bar opens for afterparty
Our cafe will be open until 4pm serving lunches, snacks and hot and cold drinks. Entry is free with donations welcomed to support the upkeep of our historic building.
