Tower Talks 2023
Please join us at St Michael’s Tower for the following Tower Talks.
Saturday July 15th 11.30 am. Moreland’s Matches: A history of Moreland’s Match factory. From 1867 to 1974 Moreland’s made matches in Gloucester. Join Paul to hear the stories of matches, the Moreland family and manufacture including the famous England’s glory. A talk by Paul Drinkwater.
Saturday August 19th 11.30 am. Henry Dene: Prior of Llanthony and Archbishop of Canterbury. A talk by Rose McDowall.
A man of “great wit and diligence”. Join Rose McDowall to hear more about the man and his work that earned him the reputation as being one of the ablest men in the kingdom.
Saturday September 16th 11.30 am. Victorian changes in Gloucester. A talk by Tony Conder.
Saturday October 7th 11.30 am. Norman Gloucester. A talk by Ian Holt
Tickets for all talks cost £4.00 and are available at St Michael’s Tower either in advance or on the day.

Saturday August 26th. Gloucester goes Retro.
Pop in for a cuppa and a seat in the cool of the Tower as Gloucester goes back in time for this ever-popular city-wide event.
Saturday September 2nd. Gloucester Day
Celebrating the relief of the Siege of Gloucester on 5th September 1643. Call into the Tower to learn more about the siege.
Friday 8th – Sunday 10th September. Heritage Open Days.
Tower Book Club
Please come along and join the group to discuss a different book each month.
We meet on Wednesday afternoons at 2.00 pm on the following dates:
April 12th; May 10th; June 14th; July 12th; August 9th; September 13th; October 11th.
Book Club will continue through the winter. A venue will be confirmed with those attending.
