Please join us at St Michael’s Tower for the following Tower Talks.

 

Saturday April 22nd 11.30 am. The Gloucesters at Waterloo: the history of the 28th Regiment of Foot. A talk by Andy Meller.
Saturday May 20th 11.30 am. 18th C links between Gloucester and the USA. A talk by Jim Dillon.
Saturday June 17th 11.30 am. Early aircraft made in Gloucester: the history of pre-WW1 aircraft. A talk by John Hamblett.
Saturday July 15th 11.30 am. Barnwood House – Gloucester’s private mental hospital. A talk by Richard Auckland.
Saturday August 19th 11.30 am. Henry Dene: Prior of Llanthony and Archbishop of Canterbury. A talk by Rose McDowall.
Saturday September 16th 11.30 am. Victorian changes in Gloucester. A talk by Tony Conder.
Saturday October 7th 11.30 am. Norman Gloucester. A talk by Ian Holt

 

Tickets for all talks cost £4.00 and are available at St Michael’s Tower either in advance or on the day.

Special Events 2023

 

Please join us for the following special events

 

Tuesday 2nd – Saturday 27th May. Kings of England Exhibition.

A display of Kings of England who have a connection with Gloucester, to celebrate the Coronation of Charles III.

Saturday 27th May. 2 pm. Gloucester Civic Trust Parade.

To celebrate 50 years of the Civic Trust, there will be a parade from Southgate Street to The Folk.

Thursday June 1st. 11.15 am and 2.30 pm. Story telling at the Tower. 

Join Jane Springham – teller of tales for young and old. A free event but donations will be welcomed.

Monday 7th – Saturday 12th August. Art Exhibition.

Local artists show their work.

Saturday August 26th. Gloucester goes Retro.

Pop in for a cuppa and a seat in the cool of the Tower as Gloucester goes back in time for this ever-popular city-wide event.

Saturday September 2nd.  Gloucester Day

Celebrating the relief of the Siege of Gloucester on 5th September 1643. Call into the Tower to learn more about the siege.

Friday 8th – Sunday 10th September. Heritage Open Days.

 

 

 

 

Tower Book Club

 
Please come along and join the group to discuss a different book each month.
We meet on  Wednesday afternoons at 2.00 pm on the following dates:
April 12th; May 10th; June 14th; July 12th; August 9th; September 13th; October 11th.
Book Club will continue through the winter. A venue will be confirmed with those attending.
