Event Details
Gloucestershire has a strong tradition of cider making and in this talk we look at the history of cider making in the county – from its initial use as payment for agricultural labourers (6 pints a day!), to the cider riots of the 1700s to its current iteration as a fashionable, artisan drink enjoyed by all. We also consider the traditional processes involved in turning an apple into a glass of cider and examine local customs such as wassailing.
Free entry. There will be a retiring collection
