PROGRAMME
Sylianka necklace making
11am – 1pm
Make your own unique Sylianka beaded necklace in the traditional Ukrainian style. The Sylianka is an ornamental necklace with ancient origins dating back to pre-Christian times. However, their widespread popularity began in the 19th century when glass beads became accessible thanks to the expansion of trade and industrial production in Europe. Typical Sylianka patterns include geometric shapes such as diamonds, triangles, waves, and zigzags.
Tickets: £15. All materials provided.

Ukrainian embroidery
12 – 2pm
Ukrainian embroidery is a cherished form of folk decorative art, deeply rooted in the country’s cultural heritage. Traditionally, it is used to adorn clothing, particularly women’s and men’s shirts, with intricate patterns rich in symbolism. We invite you to join us for a hands-on embroidery workshop, where you will learn the traditional technique of the Poltava region. During the session, participants will create their own embroidered amulet, infusing it with personal meaning while giving the timeless Ukrainian motifs a contemporary twist.
