Gloucester Tall Ships Festival

May 27, 2017 - May 29, 2017

£3 – £7

Setting Sail on Saturday 27 May 2017 – Monday 29 May 2017

Adventures from the high seas and bygone days from the Victorian period will be brought to life at the Gloucester Tall Ships festival.

The Historic Gloucester Docks will be shown in all their splendour over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend as they play host to the award-winning Gloucester Tall Ships festival, hosting an array of fabulous tall ships along along with fun-filled, fabulous activities for all the family to enjoy.

The Matthew is a full size replica of John Cabot’s ship which charted North America in 1497.
Lady of Avenel was built in Gdansk Shipyard, Poland in 1968. The brigantine square rigged ship comes in at an impressive height of 22 metres making this one truly unmissable!
Johanna Lucretia was built in 1945 in Belgium as a fishing vessel, though never actually used for that purpose, she was converted into a recreational ship in 1952 and sailed Dutch waters
La Malouine  is a Brig from Holland with  two masts rising to 22 and 24 meters and 11 sails.
The White Heather is one of only a dozen surviving Cornish luggers out of the hundreds that were built.
Keewaydin is a  Lowestoft Sailing Smack built in 1913 and believed to be the only surviving Rye-built sailing smack, She was built of carvel oak planking on oak frames, and her design and rig was based on the Brixham sailing trawler.
The Olga is a piece of living history. She is not a  large tall ship but a beautiful wooden vessel which would have ranged from Bristol Channel to Lundy looking for telltale mast heads or smoke stacks of inbound vessels she could pilot.
