The finale of the Gloucester Archaeology Festival is Festival Day.

A host of activities will occur throughout the city from the Museum of Gloucester, Gloucester Cathedral and with the epicentre at the Folk of Gloucester. All these activities will be linked with the archaeology trail map and 3D Interactive art.

All activities take place between 10 am and 4 pm at the Museum of Gloucester and the Folk of Gloucester and
11am to 3pm at Gloucester Cathedral.

The Museum of Gloucester

Come and have a go at excavating dinosaur fossils and other mysterious objects from the Museum’s excavation pit. (Free, found on the Ground Floor of the Museum).

Join Reggie the Raptor in exploring the Museum and help him find all the answers on his quest! (Trail Sheets available at Reception for £1)

Explore the Roman exhibition space, see the Roman Archaeological finds, and learn about life in a Roman Fort.

Explore the Medieval space with its amazing finds and hear about life in Medieval Gloucester.

Gloucester Cathedral

Calling all budding Junior Archaeologists!! Join us at Gloucester Cathedral as we will be running a miniature dig and washing station. There will also be a  photography treasure hunt and more.

With all activites please unsure children are accompanied by an adult.

The Folk of Gloucester

Come along to the festival village at The Folk of Gloucester.

with everything from Metal Detecting finds to skeletons and how to become an archaeologist there is something for all the family!! check below for more details.

GLOSARCH

Gloucestershire Archaeology society will be highlighting the amazing work they do in the county, taking part in archaeological digs, taking part in tours and site visits and uncovering the secrets of sites of local interest.

The story of the missing Knight

Meet the knight and help tell the story of the missing knight.

Brass rubbing activities for children of all ages.

Sophie Beckett

Will be shining a torch on CT Scanning and how they can help shine a light on the past and help uncover the hidden secrets of objects.

There will also be the Bones Challenge, can you identify the bones where they go on a skeleton?

Andy Frape and Taynton Detectorists

You might have heard about them on TV but now is your chance to meet the Local Legend that is Andy Frape. Andy will be bringing his impressive finds of Roman Coins, Clay pipes and many other amazing items from over 30 years of scouring the county for interesting finds that can be saved for everyone’s benefit.

Come along to the KIDS Zone which has been kindly supported by EG Carter LTD.

Cuddly Science Presents Amazing Archaeology and Fantastic Fossils

Come and uncover treasure in our sand pit dig, explore real archaeological finds, find out about mud larking and metal detecting, or investigate how fossils and historical artefacts are preserved! Make sediment bottles, dress up as a historical character and more!

Suitable for all ages and abilities.
