GET INVOLVED
Be a part of Gloucester’s history and make a real difference to your community by volunteering at the Folk.
The Folk is run by a small staff team and a large friendly team of volunteers but we always need more. It’s a great way to make the most of your skills, learn new skills, make new friends and have fun. There are lots of opportunities such as welcoming visitors at the front door ‘meeting and greeting’, helping in the café and bar, conducting tours, helping at our weekend events, stewarding, building maintenance, gardening, administration and lots more.
New volunteers are given a full induction and are supported throughout their time here. You also have access to training such as food hygiene and first aid. There are quarterly Q&A’s with the CEO and many opportunities to contribute ideas and suggestions. An interest in the city’s history is useful but not essential. We welcome those who can sign up to regular shifts, or people who can only spare a little time around their other commitments.

The Folk of Gloucester is at an exciting time in its development.
We are breathing life back into the Folk with an exciting and varied mix of events that attract residents and visitors alike.
Previously we have hosted audiences of 500 visitors during the Wassail in January, Tudor Day in May and Apple Day in October.
Working with our Traders is as important to us as working with our funders such as The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic England. Without your support many of these events wouldn’t happen. If you are interested in trading at our events please contact Johnb@gloucestercivictrust.org.
