Press release from Gloucester Civic Trust
King’s Square is very much in the limelight once more with the latest news the City Council has demolished the former Golden Egg restaurant with a view to sprucing up King’s Square.
Gloucester Civic Trust has been delving into their archives and has found a series of photographs of King’s Square. A couple are taken in the 50s but some show the newly revamped King’s Square back in the 1970s with its new planting, water and  fountains. The scheme won a civic award at the time.
The images can be viewed on the Home Page of the Gloucester Civic Trust website –
