Explore – our new trail

Monday, January 24th, 2011

Explore is our new trail for families, schools and young people, put together by our own Civic Trust member Phil Moss. This is truly a great way to explore Gloucester. Explore consists of an audio trail
with a quiz booklet, and you get to hunt the heritage clues.

The hire cost is just £5 per family, and you go along at your own pace.

It’s fun and entertaining. Explore has already been piloted with local brownie groups and young adults with learning difficulties. They’ve all recommended Explore as a great way of discovering
Gloucester. Evening group bookings are welcome. Special group rates apply. Please ask for details.

Explore is available to hire at the Tourist Information Centre and from St Michael’s Tower on the Cross. For group bookings please contact St Michael’s Tower on 01452 526955 or call in to the
Tower in person to discuss.

Gloucester Park Orienteering Course Map

Gloucester Park Orienteering Course Map

A new Orienteering Course has been set up in Gloucester Park – it’s fun and gets those brain cellls working. It’s also a great walk for health.

The course is a bit like a treasure hunt.  You track down the clues from the map which may lead you to a tree or a lamp post or a prominent feature in the Park. Then when you arrive at that certain point, you will collect a letter of the alphabet.  Once you’ve completed the course just juggle the letters around to make a word.
The maps with the clues are available from the black and white Park Keeper’s den in the Park  – all free of charge. Just go in and help yourself.
It’s great for groups and families to try out – and also for individuals.  The Course has been funded by the Primary Care NHS Trust.
