Museums Makeover

Both City Council run museums in Gloucester are set for major makeovers.

The City Museum and Art Gallery in Brunswick Road and the Folk Museum in Westgate Street have received a total of £730,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Now work will start later this year on major projects that will improve the facilities in both buildings.The Folk Museum will get a new purpose built education block and improvements to a gallery. (more…)

Colourful Gear

The latest exhibition at the city museum celebrates the talents of people who are or who have been homeless.

Fantasy landscapes, cartoons, local views, and poetry are all included in this amazing and thought-provoking exhibition. Revealing the skills and enthusiasm of the local artists involved.

The exhibition is part of a wider project by Gloucester City Council’s Heritage Service and GEAR, (Gloucestershire Emergency Accommodation Resource). Aiming to provide access for homeless people in the city to a range activities and workshops, allowing them to gain skills and improve their quality of life. (more…)
