Monument in Hillfield Gardens

Monument in Hillfield Gardens

We’ve been working with the Friends of Hillfield Gardens on looking at grant funding for the monuments. This is still in hand. We need a lot of money – £80,000.

With our sister partner Gloucester Historic Buildings, it’s been agreed to replace the lead on the King’s Board – which keeps being stolen with a more modern metal replacement -  which is cheaper. English Heritage have given permission for this to be done – it’s more of a long term solution and cost effective – shame we can’t replace the lead but it’s just getting too expensive to do all the time.

St Michaels Tower redevelopment

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Walking through ‘The Cross’ in Gloucester you’ll notice the boarding has gone up around St Michaels Tower. Thanks to Heritage Lottery Funding, our hopes of making the Tower an arts and cultural centre are becoming reality.

The Tower is being restored after a long period of dereliction into a useful centre for locals and visitors alike. For more information on the redevelopment and restoration of St Michaels Tower and information on its history visit http://www.gloucestercivictrust.org/gloucester-civic-trust/St-Michaels-Tower.html.

The Tower is due to open in June 2009. We look forward to welcoming you then!
