Gloucester Civic Trust – Exhibition on St Michael’s Tower

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

From the 1st – 21st April, Gloucester Civic Trust will be holding an exhibition on St Michael’s Church and Bell Tower complete with old photos of the Bells and how the Church used to look inside.

Today, many local people call into St Michael’s Tower to relate their memories of when it used to be a church and clearly it was the focal point of the local community.

The exhibition complements the Culture Club Lecture on the history of the Church and life on Gloucester Cross which takes place on Wednesday 6 April from 1.15 pm.  Admission is Free.

From the Civic Trust archives, it’s plain to see that St Michael’s Church held a commanding position dominating the street scene for many centuries, looking over the hustle and bustle on Gloucester Cross as the Tower still does today.

Old Photos will be available to order, and they will be produced to a quality finish for framing.  Cost will be £5.00 per photo making and ideal gift for family and friends.  Proceeds will go towards the upkeep of St Michael’s Tower.
