GLOUCESTER CITY COUNCIL - THE CLUTCH CLINIC RECORDING PROJECT

PRIOR TO DEMOLITION, AN OPPORTUNITY HAS OPENED TO INVITE YOU TO JOIN US THIS JANUARY 2010 IN THE INVESTIGATION AND RECORDING OF THE BUILDING. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BECOME PART OF THE PROJECT THEN WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU. YOU DON’T NEED PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, JUST INTEREST AND A LOT OF ENTHUSIASM. WE WILL PROVIDE THE TRAINING

WHETHER YOU ARE INTERSTED IN SURVEYING, PHOTOGRAPHY, DRAWING, INTERPRETATION, ARCHIVE RESEARCH OR JUST WANT TO TRY SOMETHING NEW, WE WANT TO MEET YOU.

OPEN MEETING AT THE CITY MUSEUM, BRUNSWICK RD 9TH JANUARY 2010 - ALL WELCOME.  REGISTER YOUR INTEREST, OR JUST COME ALONG TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE PROJECT. PLACES ARE LIMITED!

Situations vacant for volunteers

St Michael’s Tower is looking for Heritage Assistants to assist at events and activities throughout 2010. The Tower has an amazing programme for 2010, from evening concerts to day time story telling, and from cake making to art classes.  If you have a few hours to spare each week, and would like to help out with our events and get to take part and enjoy them for free, and learn about Gloucester at the same time – then please contact

Gloucester talks for the 2010 season

Each year, the Gloucester Civic Trust hosts a series of talks concentrating on the City of Gloucester, spanning over 2000 years. These hour long talks give a good understanding of the City’s rich historic past, told with many stories and anecdotes illustrated with a comprehensive range of slides both old and new.

All meetings are held at The Gala Club, Fairmile Gardens,

Tewkesbury Road in Gloucester on the following evenings, starting at 7.30:

The City, Docks and Cathedral are all covered during the eight weeks, giving a basic history for people potentially interested in becoming tour guides. Should tour guiding not be for you, we have plenty of openings to enable you to put your local knowledge to good effect, such as:

 

St Michael Tower helpers and volunteers

City centre church volunteers

Heritage stewards at Heritage Open Days    

Visitor point helpers at the Waterways Museum

 

If not already a member, we invite you to join the Civic Trust. The annual fee is £10 - which will enable you to have details of other events and evening meetings with Gloucester as the main theme.
